Pandya in SA to drill for Vaisakhi Rally

Pandya, the holders of national driving title, said he planned to use the trip to prepare himself for a title-defence campaign in Moshi, the venue of the opening round of this year’s National Rally Championship (NRC).
He said his winning car. Mitsubishi Evo 9 is already in South Africa for the show and will be used by Puma Energy, who sponsored his race to championship as their model car.

He said Puma Energy wants to launch their operations in South Africa; hence his rally car will be used to demonstrate the company’s success in backing motorsports in Tanzania.
“I am well prepared for South African mission, which I hope will keep me fit for Vaisakhi Rally next month in Moshi,” he said. In Moshi, the organizers, Kilimanjaro Motor Sports Club (KMSC), said they have completed setting a route system of the Vaisakhi ahead of its flag off on March 13, this year.
The club’s secretary, Fahim Aloo said the route itinerary and safety system have been sent to the Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT) for approval.
“Every thing is in place as we expect more than 20 entries in the 250km rally,” said Aloo. He said all clubs have confirmed to send participants including the hosts, Kilimanjaro Motor Sports Club. He named the clubs as Arusha, Tanga, Mzizima, Dar es Salaam Motors and Mount Uluguru.
The season opener, Vaisakhi Rally is going to be a three-region involving skilled drivers from Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro.
Apart from Pandya, the defending champion, other notable drivers eyeing Vaisakhi Rally title include Arusha-based Gurpal Sandhu in ultramodern Mitsubishi Evo 10, hosts Guljeet and Rajpar Dhani who will be locking horns with Dar es Salaam’s Randeep Birdi, Jamil Khan and Tufail Amin. Sikh Community is the title sponsor of Vaisakhi Rally.
