Finnish government supports Tanzania's endeavour towards enhanced creativity

 The Finnish government has supported Tanzania’s endeavours towards promoting creativity and innovation by donating a vehicle worth over USD100,000.
 
Finnish Ambassador to Tanzania, Pekka Hukka, handed over the donation at the weekend to the Information Society and ICT Sector Development Project (Tanzict) on behalf of his government.
 
The envoy said that no country had ever advanced in its economic development without investing in ICT which needed a high amount of innovative and creative ideas that could help in advancement.
 
“We went through the innovation process and that is why we have been able to move radically in development,” he said.
 
 He further noted: “We want to share our development strategies with our friends [Tanzania] so that they can achieve the development that they deserve through investing more in innovation and investment.”
 
“We know that to complete the Tanzict project there is a need to move around a lot and that is why we have handed over this Vehicle so that it can help in accessing all the necessary areas that the project is based and help develop ICT in the country,” he underscored.
 
For his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication, Prof Faustin Kamuzora, commended the Finnish government for extending the support in its efforts to spearhead ICT development in the country.
 
He, however, urged Tanzanians to invest in innovation and sprouting enterprises for the country to excel in a competitive world economy.
  
 “We want to see our own youth in the country becoming innovative in both ICT and other developing sector so that through their investment in innovation and creativity  the country will be able to have a stable leading economy without depending on donors countries,” stressed Kamuzora.
 
“In order to have a well deserved and advanced development in the country; there is a need to have disciplined management of resources and thorough investment in the people so that their achievements can contribute in advancing the national economy,” he added.
 
He further noted that Finland has been one steadfast partner in pushing the development agenda of Tanzania since 1962.  Since then, the two countries have cooperated in many areas with the primary focus of uplifting the people of Tanzania by supporting efforts in education, forests and ICT.
